Work
Government Reference Architectures, MBSE, space capabilities.
01Current
Senior Systems Engineer / SETA on a specialized engineering-analyses contract supporting the Missile Defense Agency Chief Engineer’s Office for Space Capabilities. Develops and maintains Government Reference Architectures (GRAs) for satellite programs. One of the customer’s resident MBSE practitioners.
02What a GRA is
A Government Reference Architecture is the government’s shared model of a system-of-interest: the structure, interfaces, behaviors, and constraints performers must align to. It is not a slide deck and it is not a requirements dump. Used well, it is the map both sides point at when a design decision is about to drift.
Brian’s work is keeping that map real — modeled, navigable, and usable by people who do not live in the tool all day.
03How the work is done
SysML in Cameo. Use-case and OOSEM-flavored rigor. OMG-aligned metamodels. GRA templates that can be reused across programs without pretending every program is the same. Architecture as the shared language between government and performers.
04Prior arc
Northrop Grumman, 2009–2025, Schriever AFB: test and systems engineering through OPIR HWIL and modeling & simulation, including technical leadership of a mid-size engineering organization and later M&S management using Cameo MBSE. Before that, electrical engineering intern/co-op work in FPGA daughter cards, DSP bring-up, and lab debug.
